Much of the world has changed around us, but one thing remains the same: STRONGER SCHOOLS BUILD STRONGER COMMUNITIES.
The Methacton Education Foundation needs your help to support the Methacton School District and our students. As a local non-profit, we rely on generous donations to help fulfill our mission. The Foundation invests in educational initiatives that would not otherwise be possible without our funding!
This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the Foundation has been forced to cancel our in-person events that allow us to raise critical funds for Methacton and its students. As we move ahead, the challenges for Methacton will be many, and the need for support is greater than ever.
Your generosity can help bridge the gap by supporting innovative educational programs and enrich student learning:
• STEM PROGRAMMING:
We have funded programs such as DNA Laboratories, 3D Printing and Design, Computer Aided Design Engineering, Music Technology Production, and STEMakerspaces. STEM teaches students essential problem solving skills through critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication.
• PROGRAMS FOR ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS:
17% of Methacton students live in poverty. That is about 800 students in our community. If basic needs are not being met, students cannot learn.
Our donors help support programs for students in need like the Backpack Program that feeds students over the weekend, loaner musical
instruments for students who can’t afford to rent or buy instruments, and need-based scholarships for Outdoor Education.
• STUDENT WELLNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS:
Today’s children deal with more mental health issues than ever before: anxiety, depression, addiction, suicide. Unfortunately, the stress of the pandemic has magnified these issues. The Foundation is committed to supporting mental health and counseling programs so the district can expand innovative support services to students from kindergarten through high school.
• CAREER DEVELOPMENT:
Preparing Methacton students for life after high school is essential: whether it is college, trades, or technical opportunities. Through new and expanded career development, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy programs, Methacton students will be well-equipped to enter the workforce. The Foundation’s newest initiative, Methacton Alumni & Friends (www.methactonalumni.org), will connect past and present students for opportunities like mentorships, internships, and guest speaking engagements to assist students in reaching their career goals.
