Foundation Commits to Raising $45,000 to Fund Backpack Program Through Summer

Eagleville, PA - Thanks to generous donors of the Methacton COVID-19 Relief Fund, the Methacton Education Foundation presented a $5,000 check for the Methacton School District Backpack Program on Wednesday.

Over the last 2 months, the Methacton Backpack Program has provided food to nearly 100 Methacton students who don’t have enough to eat at home since schools closed in March.

In yesterday’s distribution, each student received 3 large boxes filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, cans and boxes of non-perishable food that will provide nutritious meals in addition to gift cards to grocery stores.

To continue providing food resources throughout the summer, the Methacton Backpack Program requires an additional $45,000 in funding.  Always up for a challenge, the Methacton Education Foundation has committed to raising the necessary funds to continue the program for the summer.

Nikki Krelovich, Executive Director of the Foundation said, “In Methacton, we help each other.  And, help is needed now more than ever.  With the support of our generous community, the Methacton Education Foundation is committed to raising $45,000 so the Backpack Program can continue to feed students-in-need through the summer.”

Methacton School Board Vice President Elizabeth Drummond, and Board Directors Jennifer Cancro, Andrew Maginnis, Mary Hull, Paul Winters, and Andrea Rees organized and packed boxes for the food distribution, while maintaining safety and practicing social distancing.
